YOUTH PROGRAMMING
Today’s Future Sound (TFS) meets students where they are – on their headphones. In turn, we fill a real need in elementary, middle, and high schools by providing the resources to support music education in a medium that resonates with students. Our state-of-the-art mobile music studio facilitates instruction on beat making and music production in the context of Hip Hop history and culture.
Beats4Lunch
Our flagship program, Beats4Lunch brings instructors to elementary, middle, and high schools during lunch hour, providing small group and one-on-one instruction on beat making and music production.
FutureSounds
Offered to students age 10+ and their families, FutureSounds is both an in- and after-school beat making workshop that is available on school grounds and within the community, at fairs, concerts, and other events.
Performance & Album Creation
All of our students have the unique opportunity to create original compositions, culminating in a final album and live performances within their schools and communities.
Have Beats, Will Travel
Our youth-centered program travels to locations around the globe, including Australia, Brazil, China, Columbia, El Salvador, India, Israel, New Zealand, Nicaragua, and Peru.
The Wider Influence of
BEAT MAKING
The positive impact of Hip Hop music and culture goes far beyond the classroom. Today’s Future Sound (TFS) is committed to bringing the therapeutic components of beat making to individuals and groups facing trauma or illness. Our work in these settings has provided a greater connection and understanding across cultures locally and internationally through the modality of Hip Hop culture and beat making.
Mental Health Facilities
Bringing our mental health & trauma-informed methodology and pedagogy to facilities across the U.S. and internationally. Instructors receive training on trauma and mental health issues.
Juvenile Detention
Providing troubled youth with an outlet to express themselves in positive ways and cope with trauma, community violence, and other stressers. The program also builds upon Career and Technical Education (CTE) curricula, fostering media and digital literacy skills.
Veteran’s Groups
Our team has started exploring the healing power of beats as it applies to trauma, PTSD, mental health and other issues facing today’s veterans. Instructors working with veteran’s groups have reported that one-on-one and group instruction fosters both a feeling of autonomy and mastery while simultaneously creating a sense of community and emotional connection.
